Indications for the procedure:
- unfavourable facial profile (a chin implant may be the solution),
- facial tissue deficiency following trauma or caused by tissue underdevelopment.
Before surgery:
A pre-operative consultation is essential, during which the patient is informed about the necessary incisions, scars and the expected result.
A series of tests must also be performed before the surgery itself.
Type of anaesthesia:
General (recommended) or local
Duration of surgery:
1.5 to 2 hours.
Surgical procedure:
A pocket is created for the implant placement, and it is secured with sutures or tissues. The wound is then closed.
Post-operative recommendations:
When an intraoral approach is used, a liquid and pureed diet is recommended. After each meal, the oral cavity should be rinsed with an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory solution. Trauma and tissue massage should be avoided for up to 7 days after the procedure. Depending on the case, sutures are either absorbable or must be removed after one week.
Recovery time:
Bruising and swelling persist for approximately 2 weeks. The final result is visible after 4-6 weeks.
