Indications:
- Cosmetic,
- Cancer prevention (moles that are irritated, have uneven color or border, diameter over 5 mm, with perceptible cellular activity such as itching, qualify for preventive excision).
Before the surgery:
A consultation with a plastic surgeon is required, during which the specialist answers all of the patient's questions and discusses the details of the procedure. Pre-operative tests for local anesthesia must be performed: blood group, full blood count, coagulation screen, HBs, HCV. In addition, blood-thinning medications (e.g. aspirin) must not be taken for at least 10 days before the procedure.

Duration of the surgery:
Approx. 1 hour.
Course of the surgery:
Excision of the mole and closure of the defect by simple suturing or local tissue advancement (flap plasty).
Postoperative recommendations:
- Change dressing with clean hands
- Disinfect the operated area (wound) with a slightly moist gauze pad soaked in Octanisept solution or salicylic alcohol
- Do not wet the wound for the first 4 days
- Do not wash the area where strips/plasters are applied with soap, as this may cause the plasters to come off
- Suture removal on day 5–10 (depending on recommendations)
- Protect the scar from sun and sea water for 6 months
- Apply scar ointment no earlier than 3 weeks after suture removal
- Scar massage and use of a compression dressing no earlier than 3 weeks after suture removal
- Laser treatment on the scar is possible after complete wound healing (red scar stage)
Recovery time:
Individual, until the wound has healed. Return to work is possible depending on the nature of the work and the location of the operation.
