Indications:
- Painful, wide, or function-limiting scar.
Before the surgery:
A consultation with a plastic surgeon is required, during which the specialist answers all of the patient's questions and discusses the details of the procedure. Pre-operative tests for local anesthesia must be performed beforehand. In addition, blood-thinning medications (e.g. aspirin) must not be taken for at least 10 days before the procedure.
Type of anesthesia:
Local.
Duration of the surgery:
Approx. 1 hour.
Course of the surgery:
Excision of the scar, sometimes using Borges or another plasty technique, followed by closure of the wound with an atraumatic suture (gentle, layered wound closure).
Postoperative recommendations:
Protection of the operated area from trauma and no wetting of the wound for several days.
Depending on
the location, sutures are removed after 7–14 days. Subsequently (approx. 2 weeks after the procedure),
scar improvement treatment is recommended.
Recovery time:
Individual, until the wound has healed. Return to work is possible depending on the nature of the work and the location of the operation.
